Level 2 Award in Security Guarding – Retail
This four-day course is designed to assist in the standardisation of the training competencies required by Retail Security Officers on a national level. The course content complies with the recommended training syllabus in the British Standard for BS7499:2002 – Static site guarding and mobile patrol services. It will also provide some of the underpinning knowledge required to achieve the S/NVQ Level 2.
Course Content
The course contains fifteen modules, covering the following topics:
· Introduction to the Security Industry
· Roles and Responsibilities of Retail Security Officers
· Assignment Instructions
· Health and Safety at Work Act, etc
· The Retail Security Officer and The Law
· Fire and Safety Awareness
· Reporting, Notebooks, Statements and Crime Scenes

· Identification of Would-be Offenders
· Patrol and Patrolling Techniques

· Alarms, Electronic Surveillance Systems and Point of Sale
· Customer Care and Social Skills
· Equal Opportunities and Discrimination
· Drugs (optional module)
